Red Riding Hood

My daughter is dressing up as Red Riding Hood for Halloween and I usually always get pics of the outfit ahead of time. We had a lot of fun for this shoot.

This particular shot below was actually my attempt of doing something like a pic from one of the Red Riding Hood movie posters. She's actually just sitting in the grass and I tried making it look like snow.

I took my daughter outside today for a photo shoot and originally I planned to do a Roman type outfit, but when I put the sheet on her she felt angelic, so we took a few shots that way first. I ran some edits and wanted to share them here. To see them larger you can click on the photo.

I went ahead and still did the Roman look as well, but the sun was really bright and we didn't get a ton of shots.

New Hair Color!

My daughters wanted to go out and take some senior pic type pics and so we went out and took several, but I got creative with a few and decided to show some of them here. These are in the arena of our big barn and that's my dog behind her. I left him in the shot, because he kind of makes it more rugged.

They are showing up a little grainy in the post, but if you click on them they will get a bigger and look a bit nicer!!

I dressed up my daughter Tyler for a shoot the other day and I wanted to share them here. The outfit was made from a belly dancing costume the girls have. Most of the outfit is missing, but I still have the accessories, so I just did some head shots. I ran a few different edits on them.

I had a fun shoot today with an expecting mommy and her husband. We went to a tulip farm and they had some gorgeous landscaping that we took advantage of. Luckily the weather held and it was perfect lighting for outdoor photography. Here are some of the photos I took today.

I had this idea to do nursery rhyme pics of my kids and give them a modern spin. So far I've done Tyler as Little Miss Muffet and Brent as Little Jack Horner. This time I did pics of Rylee as a modern day Little Bo Peep and ran with it as far as all the digital editing went.

Can you find the two sheep?

I had to do a fairy. I can't help myself :)

This one has a big bad wolf creeping up behind her. I did a really cool Sweeney Todd edit on this one.

This is one of the close up shots I took of her. I still stuck a different background behind her just for fun.

I let my dd, Rylee takes some pics of me and I ran some edits on a few of them. My eyes are actually green, but the actions I ran on this top one made them look blue. Rylee is really learning a lot and I was very impressed with her shots. She is doing really well on the rule of thirds and paying attention to her lines. It was raining too, and she did most of these holding the camera with one hand and the umbrella in the other.

Posting some pics I took of my girls. I sat them down and said be natural and interact. Easier said than done lol. Most of the time I got clown mode. Tyler, my girl in the yellow shirt, had a laughing fit which quickly spread to Rylee my girl in black.

Then Brooky jumped in and they began to focus a little more.

Then Brooky got bored and the funny faces started in. This one cracks me up!

Rylee's Hair

I just did Rylee's hair on Thursday and I think it turned out really well. I have done highlights before, but I think this was my best job yet. I dyed the underneath a dark reddish brown. I thought I would share this quick snap shot of her and her new hair :)

Oh and look I even caught her smiling!! That doesn't happen very much lol!! I love her smile!!

It Isn't Always Easy

I was inspired by the photos over at Florabella and I wanted to try a quick shoot with Brooklyn using some pearls and a blanket, but she wasn't really interested this time. So I made the best out of and quit taking pics after 20 or so shots. Here is a few I took and I used some of the new Florabella Luxe II actions on them. I fell in love with the first Luxe set and this one is just as good if not better.

These are photo's of my hubby's baby cousin. I took these Sunday. A lot of the shots were basic posed photos, but I did several candid as well and I played with a few as well. This top one is my favorite. I just love her face.

This shot was over exposed and a bit blurry so I worked some CS5 magic and created a really soft B&W.

I adore this photo. I look at this photo and think of when she is older and how her mom will most likely help her with her wedding dress.

These were a couple more shots I got of her while she played and walked around.

Here is another angel shot of her. I softened the photo to give it a vintage glow.

Thanksgiving Pics

I took a few pics over the Holida weekend. These cute little feet belong to my good friend's baby girl who is two months old!
Brooky is mesmorized by our tree, especially at night. She can't leave it alone. It's so wonderful to know that it's such a magical time for her.

I did a sandstone edit on this one of Brooky. Not totally sure I will go with this edit for scrapbooking, but I thought I would share it here anyway.

Gotta love Thanksgiving leftovers! I set my camera on the table for this shot. It makes for a neat angle.

~South Central Oregon Trip~

We took a trip to south central Oregon in August, so that my hubby could hunt for antelope. Don't worry, although he got a trophy size antelope, I will not post the pic of it here. I just wanted to post some pics of the trip itself. My older girls didn't come for this trip, so it was just our youngest two. Brent caught a small trout that we released back to the water.

I love this pic. Something about how Brooklyn is standing lol.

Here is the "LOBSTER" that came out of the water lol. Of course you all know it's not a lobster, but to a three year old it was.

I'm SOOO Impulsive!!

Do you ever get an idea and you just can't wait to do it later, so you do it right then and there with whatever you have on hand. Well I had a very impulsive moment today. I was looking at the G45 papers for Halloween which feature an Alice in Wonderland theme. SUPER CUTE!! Anyway, I got this idea that Brooklyn would be so dang cute dressed up as this style of Alice. Of course, I don't have the costume, so I go digging in drawers and my bag of costume stuff and manage to pull off this rag-a-muffin version of the G45 Alice in Wonderland lol. Anyway she and I had a total blast and here are some of the photos. Oh and by the way, she totally improvised in every one as far as her expression went. As you can see from a lot of the shots, she went with the same look :)!
I pulled this off using, a pink tutu, my 13 year old daughter's blue t-shirt, I cut up one of my black tanks that was already messed up to make the apron, the socks were super huge on her because they are adult size and she's wearing unlaced tap shoes that are about 5 sizes to big lol. Luckily I had a small enough witch hat that I tied some green ric-rac around. To get the sleeves to bunch I took a rubber band for each arm to hold the sleeves in place.

Aww the Joy of New Babies

I took these Thursday of my good friends' brand new baby girl. The couple wanted me to do a series in black and white for them. Here are some of the photos I took.

This last one is a pic of Grandma meeting her first grandbaby. Baby Kaylee is absolutely perfect and gorgeous. Babies are such blessings from God and it's so wonderful to witness His glorious miracles!!

All About The Eyes

I've been playing with enhancing eyes and having a ton of fun doing it. I've used some actions and have also been learning how to do it without an action, thanks to StarSailorScrapper aka Lisa Gregory over at Swirlydoos.com. She has shown me a lot of great tips. Here are several before and afters of a few photos I just snapped.

His eyes are SUPER dark so I wasn't sure if I could do a lot of change, but I was happy with how they turned out.

I chose this pic because of the highlights in her eyes and I just wanted to enhance them even more so I washed out most of the photo using a Florabella action and adding texture. My goal was making her eyes pop.

The actions I used were from MCP Actions. The coloring actions I used were from Florabella. Then don't forget Lisa's tutorial over at Swirlydoos!!

Dirty Faced Country Girl

Sometimes the opportunity just calls and you have to snap some shots even when your subject is sportin' a dirty face. The funny thing is, I'm not really sure how she got it lol. I tried playing around with some to see what I could do, but that face was just way too dirty.

This is one I tried some texture on. I highlighted her cheek as well and it cleaned up pretty nicely.

This one I tried to blur out. Not my fave, going to print this one without the blur, but I thought I would show my attempt.

This one was nice because the shadows hid the dirt. Look at her messy hair lol.

Tried an intense B&W which really made her eyes pop and it hid the dirt pretty nicely.

~Fun Shots with Rylee~

Rylee and I got this idea from a similar photo we saw somewhere online with a girl wearing blue eyeshadow all the way around her eyes. Not quite sure where I saw it, but it was cool and inspired us to do this. I played around with some of my actions to create different looks for different photos.

This first photo I lightened and used a warming action. I didn't add any extra details.

This one above I actually used an action from The Pioneer Woman site, called Old West. Then I adjusted the opacity.

This one above I call Sleeping Beauty. I used an action from the same site called Lovely and Ethereal. Then I did a soft overlay of color around her eyes.

I just fiddled with layers and masks on this one above and below. I also added a harder overlay of color around her eyes for the bottom photo.

Last year my family went to Yellowstone National Park and had a nice time driving through and seeing all the beautiful scenery and animals. Mostly we saw buffalo and some elk, but the land was breathtaking. Here are a few of the photos I took.

~Triple Birthday~

In June our household has four birthdays, myself included. So to not completely irritate my extended family, I do a triple party for all three of my June babies at one time. Then I will do something special for them on their big day. We ate at this pizza place, that has the tiny pepperonis, oh I love the tiny pepperonis!! Anyway the lighting was bad and there was this HUGE red sign that lit our entire area up!! So I broke out my new lens, a Canon 50mm f/1.8, a very inexpensive, must have lens!!

Not bad considering the light was not good, there was constant movement and I was holding the camera, so I am sure I was moving as well. Oh that cake has 2 lbs of vanilla mousse in it!!!

My Dad is helping my hubby light the candles. Did I mention that cake had 2 lbs of vanilla mousse in it!!

This is my hubby's Uncle Rocky!! It's VERY rare to get him in a photo!! He's a great guy!! Oh and don't forget the cake that has 2 lbs of vanilla mousse in it!! LOL!! Ok ok enough :)

~ Self Teaching ~

I don't have the skills to say I'm "self taught," so I will just stick with "self teaching." This means, I still have a lot to learn and a long way to go. I have had a scrapbooking blog for quite some time now, and I don't like to fill up all my posts with pictures, so I figured I would start a connecting blog for photography. I will be sharing my journey of growing as a photographer with you and hopefully inspiring some of you as well.

I decided it's best to get to know my household, if you don't already!! I decided the best way to do this is by order of youngest to oldest. These are the people you will see the most. My kids are awesome and put up with my mammarazzi tendencies!! I just can't help taking pics of these beautiful faces!!!

This is Brooklyn... I am lucky to get her photographed with her hair in place and a shirt on. For the longest time, people wondered if she ever wore clothes above the waste. Here is one of those shots in question. She is, at this time, beginning to wear shirts more often than pants.

Next in line is Tracker... the hard to shoot Beagle. She is almost exactly the same age as Brooky and totally acts the same too.

Here is my little stud, Brent, who is such a cutie with those gorgeous brown eyes. I've always thought that brown eyes photograph the best.

Here is Rocket, our pitt bull aka the toy poodle, who hates having his picture taken. Just look at the way he's looking at me. Like I am totally annoying him!!

Little miss Tyler with one of her fairy outfits on. She is my biggest actress. She loves the camera and as you can see the camera loves her.

Here is my sweet Rylee. She is my photo assistant, but I get a lot of pics of her too. She's getting into photography and video making in a big way!!

Here is my oldest daughter, Raine. Unfortunately you won't be seeing any new pics of her, because she decided that my rules were not what she wanted and moved in with her bio-dad. She is 16 years old and has a lot of growing up to do, but I keep praying for her and one day she will come around again.

Here is my Hottie!! There is so much to say about him and it would take me forever to tell you everything, but over time I will do my best to share the details!! In this photo he is working on a tree house for the kids. He's a contractor, so our tree house is still unfinished, go figure!

Here I am!! This is me, well the side of me anyway. I have a hard time getting self portraits that are correctly focused. Well I have a hard time with all photos in the same way lol. I'm getting better and learning as I go, so hopefully my pictures will begin showing it over time!
